Stepping Into a Better Year
Clarity For The Life You Want
Therapy here goes beyond surface-level coping strategies. Together, we slow things down and look more closely at patterns, relationships, losses, and expectations—so experiences begin to feel clearer and less burdensome over time. Whether you’re navigating the end of an important relationship, a major life transition, or a season where familiar roles and assumptions are shifting, you’ll find a confidential, thoughtful space to make sense of what’s happening and why.
Much of my work is with driven professionals—people who care deeply about their relationships and the lives they’re building, even when things feel uncertain or unsettled. Many come to therapy at meaningful crossroads: following the end of a significant partnership, during early motherhood, or in midlife when questions about direction, identity, or purpose begin to surface. I also see a meaningful number of men, often those who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, or the women they care about. What these clients tend to share is a desire for depth, clarity, and forward movement that feels considered rather than rushed.
I bring specialized training in perinatal mental health to my work, supporting women and families through pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional adjustments that accompany this season of life. For some clients, this includes individual therapy; for others, group support becomes a helpful complement to individual work. In all cases, care is tailored to the person and the moment they’re in.
My approach is warm, steady, and engaged. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) alongside insight-oriented work, I serve as a thoughtful reflection point—helping you clarify what matters, understand what’s been shaping your experience, and move toward meaningful, lasting change at a pace that respects both your life and your capacity.
With over five decades in the Washington, DC area, I’m also able to connect clients with trusted physicians, support groups, and community resources when helpful—so care feels well supported both within and beyond our sessions.
In addition to my clinical work, I supervise a small group of Residents in Counseling, introduced in the About section, who see adults, young adults, and couples at a reduced fee. Each Resident is personally selected and closely supervised by me, and brings substantial life and professional experience—including backgrounds in corporate, nonprofit, and caregiving roles—along with rigorous clinical training. This allows us to offer thoughtful, high-quality care at a range of price points, without compromising depth or professionalism.
“Sarah’s constructive & empathetic approach to therapy helped guide me through a very difficult time. Her compassion shines through, yet at the same time she provides the push a person needs to confront underlying problems affecting one’s well-being.”
